To start, some general info...
You could say I'm like a Swiss Army knife: production designer, graphic/digital designer, and web designer/developer with strong technical skills. I have more than fifteen years of professional experience, and training in both graphic/production design and website design/development. In 2015 I launched BOAST: Best of Astoria & LIC, a website and blog that I designed and developed that showcases the best places to eat and drink, and things to do and see in Astoria and Long Island City, Queens.
Next, some of my work experience...
I'm currently working at IBM as a Marketing Production Designer in the IBM Blue Studio, mostly doing work for events, and have been at IBM since 2018. I help establish guidelines documents and starter kits, and I produce a number of digital, print and social assets for various events and environments. Previously I worked at HBO in the Design + Production department in consumer marketing. While there I did a number of projects, including developing The Q quarterly newsletter app for desktop, iPad and iPhone; developing and producing the interactive Multicultural Marketing digital presentation; designing and developing internal websites; designing and coding evites and emails; and designing and producing template ads that went in various publications. Following HBO I did design and production project work at Wieden+Kennedy, Droga5, The&Partnership, Wavemaker Global, Viacom and Sprinklr.
I have worked at a number of publications, including Men's Health, where I did digital production design on the iPhone edition; Reader's Digest, where I produced the digital editions for iPad, Kindle, and iPhone; Maxim, where I did production and design for the print magazine; and Latina, where I was a print designer.
Here's where I've had my schooling…
I graduated from the University of Oregon with a magazine journalism degree and a multimedia design minor. I followed that with design work at Willamette Week, Portland Tribune and Community Newspapers, and Eugene Magazine. I moved to New York for an editorial design internship at Rolling Stone, and that completed my graphic design certificate at Pacific Northwest College of Art (2011). In New York City, I earned certificates in Web Design and Web Development (2015) as well as Web Animation (2018) from Noble Desktop. I continue taking classes and attending conferences, such as CreativePro Week (2020, 2021, 2023, 2024) to keep learning.
And some of my interests and projects...
One of my main interests is sports, be it playing, watching, officiating or coaching. By combining my passion for sports with my knowledge of graphic design and photography, I created and published four issues of Sports Oregon, a magazine which highlighted college and professional sports in the state.
In the past few years I have designed and developed a number of websites, and I have designed and produced two wall calendars featuring my photography of Portland landmarks in one, and of Alaska nature and wildlife in the other.
